Maxvorstadt

The borough Maxvorstadt includes the district Marsfeld, St. Benno, Maßmannbergl, Josephsplatz, Am alten nördlichen Friedhof, Augustenstraße, Königsplatz, Universität (university) and Schönfeldvorstadt.

Maxvorstadt is situated between Odeonsplatz and Karslplatz / Stachus and goes as far as the north western part of the historic city of Munich and the English garden in the east.

In this area one will find many national and private art galleries that is why this part of Maxvorstadt is also called “Kunstareal”. Also the Technical University and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität are situated in Maxvorstadt. If one wants to take a break from studying or looking at fine art he or she can relax and refresh at Löwenbräukeller at Stiglmaierplatz.

In the summer open air concerts with world famous artist take place at Königsplatz. Also an open air cinema is organized here in the evenings during the summer when the weather promises to be fine.
