Museum of Casts of Classical Statues
The Museum of Casts of Classical Statues is a collection of plaster casts of antique sculpture in Munich. Since 1976 the museum is located in the former NSDAP administration building, today´s house of the cultural institutes. It is accessible since 1991 permanently to the public.
In total it accommodates more than 1,800 casts and it is the fourth largest cast museum of Germany. Since June 2005 there is a colored model of the Parthenon of Athens which is a long-term loan of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
As an important archaeological work tools of the museum is the accompanying Photothek whose inventory encloses about 100,000 photos.
