Mineralogische Staatssammlung (State Collection of Minerals)

The “realm of crystals” (Reich der Kristalle) is the part of the state collection of minerals in Munich that is publicly available. Amongst 100.000 exhibits there are diamonds, smaragds, and other precious stones. Furthermore you will see a collection of meteorites as well as quartz (silicea) from the Alps and minerals from Bavarian natural mineral deposits. The development and the characteristics of minerals and crystals will be presented. The museum is located at Kunstareal in a building of the mathematic faculty of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität.
