Museums of Arts & Galleries in Munich
Art museums were established in the middle of the 19th century in Munich and the acceptation of fine arts has since then continuously increased. Today art is represented in a whole district in Munich. You will find famous and well-established art galleries all over the city.
The Munich Art Quarter (Kunstareal)
The Munich Art Quarter is historically grown. The name “Kunstareal” has been created only recently and is used for museums and art galleries in the central borough Maxvorstadt. For many years there was the Glyptothek, the Alte and Neue Pinakothek as well as several collections. Therefore the names of the individual museums and collections are still in use.
