Kunstareal (Munich Art Quarter)

The Munich Art Quarter is historically grown. The name “Kunstareal” has been created only recently and is used for museums and art galleries in the central borough Maxvorstadt. For many years there was the Glyptothek, the Alte and Neue Pinakothek as well as several collections. Therefore the names of the individual museums and collections are still in use.

At the moment you will find the following museums and art galleries at the Kunstareal:

• Palais Pinakothek im Palais Dürckheim (centre for art education)
• Türkentor

• Staatliche Graphische Sammlung
• Museum für Abgüsse Klassischer Bildwerke
• Ägyptische Staatssammlung
